Years Participated: 2016
I have decided to take on the challenge again this year, Take 2…
“Hawaiian Ride for Youth from Albany to Perth”
Just under 700 kilometres – to fund the delivery of local and accessible mental health services in rural WA.
My motivation is to assist and ensure there is local and timely support for young people who are vulnerable and at risk of suicide. The sad fact is suicide is one of the leading causes of death in young people, and here in WA we have some of the highest incidence of youth suicide in Australia, particularly in rural and remote communities. Youth Focus, using the funds raised by me and the other riders offers free confidential youth counselling service for young people aged 12-25 who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts, depression and self-harming behaviours.
As a rider I pay all of the costs associated with the ride. That means 100% of what you donate goes directly to helping kids who are at risk.
In addition all donations are fully tax deductable!
I am required to raise $5,000…. In retrospect such a small amount, because of the positive impact it can have on youth mental health and wellbeing, something that is close to my heart. Any of you that know me well, know that I would only do this ride again because it can make a difference. You all know how tough it was for me the first time around, but I will endure this again and put in the hard yards…I NEED YOUR CASH…and your support!!
Please dig deep into your pockets and think of the impact you personally will be making on young peoples’ lives. Every dollar counts.
Appreciate the support
All the best
