Occupation: Retired Judge
I am participating for the first time as a rider in the Hawaiian Ride for Youth in March 2017. The ride is from Albany to Perth, a distance of some 700kms in five days.
It is a condition of entry that riders raise at least $5000 for Youth Focus, a Western Australian not-for-profit that provides mental health services free of charge to young people in Perth and the regions. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
Along the four ride routes, riders will visit a total of 19 high schools and engage with around 3,000 students to raise awareness of the issues associated with mental health and wellbeing.
By the time of the ride, I will have done around 7,500kms in training and funded the costs associated with my participation in the training and the ride.
I do hope you too can support the very important work of Youth Focus by making a donation. Many thanks, Carmel
